7 October (1896) Gales, rain, high tide = floods

  • 7 1896 (Wed.) Gales, heavy rains and high tide resulted in severe flooding in the Mwldan, Strand, St Mary St., and Bridge-end area of the town. The 7.30 train failed to get in before 9. At 9.40 the situation had deteriorated that it was not safe for the train to depart. No letters or newspapers reached the town till Thursday 1.30.pm.
